What to Expect at Sheridan
Expect your life to change through the grace and love of God-Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Changing from ways of human brokenness, what the church calls sin, to the way of life in Jesus is the essence of Sheridan Lutheran Church. As our mission statement proclaims, “we love deeply, grow spiritually and share abundantly.” As a congregation, we are committed to these life-giving ways and when we do them, our lives change. We work hard to live the command to love God and our neighbor as ourselves (Luke 10:25-37). And we hope the result is that we’ve created a hospitable community that welcomes all people and where all people feel welcome. Our outreach opportunities abound. Our educational and faith formational opportunities reach the tiniest of children to those in their wisdom years.
Our God is not a stagnant, irrelevant God – but God is alive in and through this community. God is never done with you. God never gives up on you. Sheridan is a place where we partner with God in living this out.
Perhaps it's been a while since you visited a church, you are new to the area or simply want to check out Sheridan. Welcome, we encourage you to join us.
Weekends at Sheridan
Weekends are set aside to worship God, give ourselves as an offering to God, and to open ourselves to the promises of God. Our worship services run about an hour in length. They contain excellent contemporary music, relevant preaching with a Biblical basis, time for prayer, sharing in the Lord’s Supper, celebrating baptism, and challenging ourselves to be the church beyond 70th and Old Cheney. We typically utilize a worship series theme that focuses on an aspect of living life at God’s people. People often comment on how helpful these themes are in equipping them to be a follower of Jesus in the ‘real world’ beyond the walls of the church. We also have educational and faith formation classes for all ages during Sunday mornings. These vibrant classes are a great place to build a foundation of learning about faith and taking faith to a personal, deeper level.

Special Services
During the year, there are special times in the church where we celebrate the awesome gifts of God. At these times, we gather for special worship opportunities. Some of these special services are Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunrise and Confirmation. Each of these times highlight key moments in the life of Jesus and the impact these moments have on our faith community. These historical events come alive in a contemporary way as the greatest story ever told is retold again. These services are listed in the bulletin and on our website and give specific times and dates. As with all worship at Sheridan – all are welcome!
What to wear at Sheridan?
We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are thrilled that you're joining us and hope you are more focused on the worship than what you are wearing. In the summertime, it's not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt. Some prefer to still put on their "Sunday best," and that's fine too! Simply, come as you are.
