WORSHIP & ARTS MINISTRY

The purpose of Sheridan’s Worship and Arts Ministry is to worship our Lord and Savior.  God has called us to share our individual gifts within the body of Christ so that others might develop a deeper relationship with our Savior.  Through the act of worship leadership, we seek to offer the gifts of vocal and instrumental music, dramatic interpretation, visual and technical arts, and sacred movement! With God’s guidance, we strive to bring Him the glory through our praise and adoration and thus enrich the faith lives of others.

Creation Celebration

Our new summer worship series explores God’s gift of creation and our call to take care of this amazing gift.  Through worship and weekly activities our faith community together can increase our awareness of the world around us, increase our appreciation of the sacredness of creation, and deepen our desire to treat it with dignity and respect.

This Creation Series will enable us to take a deeper look at our relationship to our Creator God, and our relationships to others as we grow in our sense of stewardship of our self and our surroundings.  Family oriented re-creation activities will be suggested each week, along with suggested opportunities to reach out to others, enriching relationships between family members and friends as well as the people in our community.  Many of the practical suggestions through this series have been adopted from the national best seller Last Child in the Woods, Saving our Children From Nature-deficit Disorder.  Dare we say, saving God’s children from nature-deficit disorder?  “A growing body of research links our mental, physical and spiritual health directly to our association with nature in positive ways.”   As we reflect on our Awesome Creator, it is our hope that through this series we will discover that our care of creation is an act of worship, and our worship is an act of caring for creation. May we experience the rebirth of wonder, awe and even the joy of the psalmist who expressed “Oh Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.”
