Global Mission

What is mission?

When most people think about Global Mission, what first comes to mind is Christ's commandment in Matthew 28:19-10, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (English Standard Version) We use this scripture most often as our call to evangelize, to share the Good News, with those who have not heard it.  We focus on the call to teach them, and often go as though we have been sent with a peice of imperative information and our only call is to publicize this information.

Mission is more, much more, than just information sharing.  Jesus reminds us in John 20:21, which is also considered a Great Comission, that "As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you." (English Standard Version)   If we do mission with the sole purpose of telling others about Jesus, and neglecting to treat them as Jesus treated those around him, we are disregarding the fact that Jesus sends us, as he was sent.  In practical terms, it means that our mission should be a reflection on Jesus' earthly ministry of love, compassion, relief, dignity and reconcilaition.  It also means that our mission must be grounded in worship, reading Scripture and prayer.  If we seek to model our ministry after the life of Christ, it is imparative that we not only study and meditate on the life of Christ, but that we are in worship and prayer.

We invite you to join us as together we work to be the body of Christ, as we seek to represent Christ to those around us, not only teaching them about al that Jesus has commanded us, but also caring for them and treating them as Jesus has cared for and treated us.

Make a Difference through our Mission Partners

Tanzania AIDS Orphan Scholarship Project

Education is very important in Tanzania.  However, there are many  students who are not able to attend school because their families cannot afford the school fees.  Students who have lost parents to AIDS are especially not likely to attend school.  You can provide scholarships for AIDS orphans and enable students in Tanzania to live loving, productive lives.  Go to tanzaniaorphans.cfsites.org for more information on the Tanzania AID Orphans

The Bolivian Street Children Project

The Bolivian Street Children Project is a Christian social welfare organization that addresses the unique needs of street children in Bolivia and around the world. They work to uncover the potential of these children and make a lasting difference in their lives, one small child at a time.  The Bolivian Street Children Project befriends children on the streets of La Paz, Bolivia and provides relief services for them while encouraging them to leave the streets and enter one of their homes for former street children.  The Bolivian Street Chldren Project runs multiple homes and substitute families for former street children.  More information is available on their website at www.bolivianstreetchildren.org

Haitian Timoun Foundation

The Haitian Timoun Foundation is a non-profit organization with a simple, Christ-centered vision: “That ALL May Have LIFE!” All administrative costs are covered. That means, 100% of contributions go directly to help Haitian kids. We only partner with Haitian-run organizations with a proven track record, transparent accounting, life-giving missions, and impeccable ethics. In 2007, we offered grants and sponsorships totaling more than $200,000 in direct fiscal investment; and tens of thousands of dollars worth of donated services and “in-kind” investment. By 2011, the Foundation envisions growth beyond $1,000,000.  More information is available on their website at www.hopeinhaiti.org.
