Local Prayer

When we struggle in life with basic needs, one of the biggest heartaches is feeling alone, like no one cares. However, when we know that others are thinking about us, remembering us in prayer, it gives us grace and courage to carry on. Our problems don’t define us, we instead feel a community’s care and the love and grace of God.

One of the ways you can uplift our outreach ministries of Sheridan is to remember the people in our ministries in prayer. We invite you to pray through our list of partnerships as well as the prayer suggestions that follow.

Did you know that Lincoln ranks as one of the top 20 cities in the US for immigrant and asylum resettlement? Many people resettle in Lincoln have come from war, extreme poverty and violence. Pray for our brothers and sisters as they call Lincoln their home. Pray for our ministry partners that reach out and receive these new residents.

Did you know that 36% if the children in Lincoln live in poverty? Remember in prayer their parents, guardians, and caretakers. Pray for their schools, neighborhoods and faith communities that raise up these children to be healthy and thriving.

Other ideas:

Pick a meal this week where you eat nothing, or where you eat very little. Use the money that you would have spent going out to eat and give it to one of our ministry partners.

Every night when you say your bedtime prayers, remember our ministry partners in your prayers, asking for God’s grace to be poured out upon them.

Save your change in a jar. When you place your change in the jar, ask for God’s blessing upon these resources. When your jar is full, give the funds to one of our ministry partners to help them accomplish their dreams.
