Connections: A ministry for young adults

“Connections” is a gathering of people who are post-college, young adults committed to building relationships as the body of Christ through fellowship, encouragement, worship and service. We are single, married, with and without children. More importantly though than our station in life, is our desire to know our Lord and to love our neighbors. If you want to be a part of “Connections” – check out the Scroll for our listing of upcoming events or find us on facebook (search "connections-sheridan lutheran"). July Connections Event: S'moresgasboard and BBQ

Sat., July 17, 5-8pm, Holmes Lake Park

Come for an evening of BBQ, family fun and S'mores! We'll meet at Pavillion #3, located by the playground. This is a family friendly event, so bring everyone along. Hot dogs, side dishes, drinks and table service will be provided. The S'moresgasboard is an opportunity to make your own unique s'mores recipe (similar to a chili cook-off) and provide samples for people to try. S'mores' samplers will then vote on what s'mores recipe they liked the best. There will be games for the kids, time for fishing, lots of conversation and summertime fun!

RSVP to the event on Facebook (Search: Connections-Sheridan Lutheran Church) or at the sign up sheet located at the Activities Center in the Great Hall. Also RSVP on FB or at sign up sheet if you are entering the "S'moresgasboard" contest. Contact Pastor Rhonda with any questions.

Connections Between Life and Faith- June 1, 2010

Focus Verse - Mark 1: 30-31 "Now Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told him about her at once. He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them."

Reflection -In this scripture, Jesus is beginning his adult ministry and he gets started by healing Simon Peter's (one of his disciples) mother-in-law. Notice the connection - that as much as Jesus was caring for the crowds who were beginning to follow him, he also cared for his own who were closest to him. When Simon Peter's mother-in-law is healed, she in turn cares for them and serves them food and nourishment for their ministry.

Connection to "Connections" - I don't know about you, but one of the best outcomes of Connections is how refreshed I feel after an event. I literally feel 'healed' in spirit. I enjoy the conversation, the friendships, laughter, stories. And then, we see each other at worship, in the Great Hall, around Lincoln, and I remember our time together at Connections and that same refreshed feeling comes back. I hope that you have this same healing and refreshing experience when you come to Connections.
