Education and Classes

Bringing your Family to Sheridan

All of Sheridan's Ministry for Children, Youth and Families is designed to pass on God's story to each child of God, through worship, relationships and active learning, equipping all to live as disciples of Christ. Opportunities abound for families to engage in God’s story in very hands-on ways. Wednesdays at the Well offers a worship service that is family-friendly. The classes offered following the service reach the ages of infants to adults. Sunday mornings offer education classes for Preschool – 5th grade. Confirmation (6th-8th grade) meets on Wednesday nights during the school year. Sr. High Youth group meets on Sunday nights. Faith Stepping Stone Workshops are offered for each age group each year (Bible Presentation, Baptism, First Communion, etc.). Fellowship events, service projects to the greater community and mission trips are offered at special times. All of these offerings are a way to learn about God’s promises as a family. For the small children in your family, a fully staffed nursery and quiet room are available for your convenience. Children's Ministry

Sheridan Lutheran offers a variety of programs for children of all ages.  Sunday morning options include, Kingdom Quest for 3 years olds through kindergartners and Spirit Quest for 1st through 5th graders at both 9:45 and 11:00.  Wednesday morning programs are offered for babies (6 months and older) through 5 year olds.  Wednesday evening programs are offered for babies (6 months and older) through 5th graders.  All children’s programming at Sheridan is designed to help children come to know God and His Word through a variety of fun and interactive activities.  For age-appropriate information regarding Children’s Ministries, visit the Children’s Ministry page or contact Julie Hestermann, Director of Children’s Ministries.

Children's Music

Sheridan Lutheran offers music opportunities for infants through high school youth. Babies and parents will interact with other families and focus on hearing God’s Word through song. Two year olds and parents are introduced to a simple Bible concept and use song, instruments and movement to engage with each other and focus on that concept.  Preschool and Kindergarten children have opportunities on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings to explore music through song, games, rhythm instruments, colored bells and boomwhackers. 1st-5th grade children have opportunities to play in bell choirs, sing in vocal choirs and explore God’s Word through musical experiences with boomwhackers, orff instruments and body movement. Middle School and High School youth can use their gifts for worship on Wednesday nights through song and instruments. For more information regarding Children’s Music, visit the Children’s Music page or contact Julie Anderson, Children’s Music Director.

Youth Ministry

Sheridan Lutheran Youth focuses on building a caring community of teenagers who love God and love each other. We provide various large group and small group activities designed to deepen and challenge faith and to create fellowship within the Body of Christ. However, the strength of our ministry lies in the personal relationships that exist between youth and leaders. A committed group of volunteer leaders seeks to be actively involved in the lives of every youth, and all activities are designed with the intent to strengthen these relationships. We hope that through the community, faith will grow and youth and their leaders will all fall more in love with Jesus Christ.
