Elementary (1st-5th Grade)

Spirit Quest (September-May)

Spirit Quest is the name of our Sunday morning education program for children in 1st through 5th grades, offered at 9:45 and 11:00 a.m.   In 5-6 week units, children come to know God through a series of interactive workshops.  Each Spirit Quest workshop utilizes a particular learning style for its approach to the lesson.  Children come to know the Bible and God through drama, art, storytelling, music, games, computers, science and cooking. The same curriculum is used at both hours but the two hours are set up slightly different. We invite families to try both hours to see which format works best for their children.

At 9:45 the children will be divided into teams according to their grade.  Each team will start in the workshop they will be participating in that day.  At 9:50 the teams will gather together for opening worship and activities and will then return to their workshop. Teams will rotate to a different workshop each Sunday to learn and know God through different experiences. Each team of children will be led by Shepherds.  These high school youth and adults take an active part in the class along with the  students, develop relationships with the kids, pray with them, and assist them in processing the lesson through discussion and journaling.

At 11:00, 1st through 5th graders begin in worship with their families, come forward for the Children's Message and then are dismissed for activities for the remainder of the hour.  1st-5th graders travel as a group to a different workshop each week.

Children's Ministry Registration forms for the 2010-11 school year are available here. We ask that parents register their children for enrollment in both Sunday and mid-week activities.

Wednesdays @ the Well (September-April)

First through fourth graders begin the evening with worship at 6:00 and then move to a large group Bible activity time. Following Bible time,  children have an opportunity to further explore the Bible lesson through art, drama, games, science, video, computers and cooking. Through the Workshop Rotation Model students will rotate to different activities as they learn and know about God through a variety of workshops.

Fifth graders have the opportunity to take part in the ALL STARS program. The goal of ALL STARS is to encourage youth to adopt a lifestyle free from high-risk behaviors. We will also explore the role our faith plays in making choices.  ALL STARS is highly interactive with group discussions, art projects and games.  An information meeting for parents and their son or daughter will be held on September  8 at 6:30 pm.

1st-5th graders also have an opportunity to participate in WAM sessions. WAM stands for “Worship, Arts & Music”. WAM students begin the evening with worship at 6pm and then move to a large group Bible activity time. Following Bible Time, WAM students learn how to participate in worship with voice & instrument. This group will regularly lead worship on Wednesday nights.
