Faith Stepping Stones: Holy Communion

We celebrate milestones in each baptized child’s life beginning with Baptism and going through High School graduation. These Faith Stepping Stones provide a way for Sheridan to partner with parents, step-parents and grandparents in bringing children up in the Christian faith and keeping the promises we made together at Baptism. All workshops through 5th grade are for parents and children together and include a learning time, interactive Prayer Stations related to the topic for parents and children to do together, as well as a Keepsake Craft to make.

5th Grade – What is Holy Communion? – Sat., March 27, 9:30 to noon, Family Life Center.  Families of participants are also encouraged to participate in the Seder Meal on Maundy Thursday, April 1 beginning at 5:30.

Children of all ages (4th grade and under) who are ready to receive the Sacrament are asked to participate in Holy Communion instructions for young children on Saturday, March 27 at 9:30 in Room 111.

Child care during these classes for younger siblings is available upon request. Contact Kathy Paisley with any questions.

Spirit Quest (September-May)

Children in 1st through 5th grades have fun and learn about God’s love through Spirit Quest, our Sunday morning education program at 9:45 and 11:00 a.m. Children learn using multiple ways of knowing God through a series of interactive workshops. Each Spirit Quest workshop utilizes a particular learning style for its approach to the Biblical lesson. Children come to know the Bible and God through a variety of ways—drama, art, storytelling, music, games, computers, science and cooking.

The same curriculum is used at both hours but the two hours are slightly different in format. We invite you to try both hours to see which works best for your children.

At 9:45 children are divided into teams according to their grade. Each team begins with an opening lesson and then rotates to a different workshop for a five or six week unit. Each child comes to learn and know God through different experiences.

Each team is led by Shepherds. These adults take an active part in the class along with the students, developing relationships with the children, praying with them, and assisting them in processing the lesson through discussion and journaling.

At 11:00, 1st through 5th graders come together for an opening lesson. The group, along with adult shepherds, travels to a different workshop each Sunday during a five or six week unit.

Children's Ministry Registration forms are available at the Activities Center or at the bottom of this page to download. We ask that parents register their children for enrollment in both Sunday and mid-week activities.
