Health & Wellness

Health Ministry Team

A Health Ministry Team of registered nurses and health professionals guides and advises on the health and wellness activities. Grant-writing is used to supplement funding for Health Ministries.

Wellness Activities

Fun and fellowship, participation in sports, emphasis on nutrition, day trips, and outings together for fellowship and growth in faith are incorporated into youth and adult activities.

Sheridan's Running Group: An informal group to support each other in fellowship through running, generally ramped up during Lincoln Marathon/Half Marathon training season January-April. Click here to find out more information and to get involved.

Education

Awareness of health issues through talks, health fairs, attendance of community-based programs, and articles that focus on the National Health Observances Calendar.

Health Screenings and Involvement in Community Causes

Basic health screenings by Sheridan members for the purpose of raising awareness of health needs that may necessitate follow up with Community professionals. Support for national and community health causes are promoted and donations solicited.

Sheridan/Community Advocacy

Support Groups and “caring connections” for those dealing with cancer and other health issues.

The Life Transitions Support Group for Changes and Challenges is not currently meeting. Contact Cheri Peterson for more information.

Healing Gardens

Sheridan’s gardening group meets on a regular basis to plant and maintain selected perennial gardens, and to plant annuals and vegetables for sharing. Hospital visitors and visitation caregivers may take cuttings as gifts when visiting. Donations, church funding and memorial money support this ministry.
