Deaf Ministry
Sheridan offers many opportunities for the deaf community to grow in their faith. Every Sunday, the 9:45am service is interpreted. This service is recorded and can be seen Thursday 7:30pm, Friday 12:30pm, and Sunday 11:30am on cable channel 13 and is fully interpreted. The midweek service, Wednesday at the Well is interpreted also. (September-April)
Looking to gain Bible knowledge? A Bible study, in ASL, is held every Monday at 7:00-8:00pm. Reaching others through music and movement, our sign choir performs about 3 times throughout the year. Sheridan Deaf Ministry meetings are held at 6:30pm every second Wednesday of each month to discuss/plan upcoming events and/or needs. All are welcome.
Experiencing faith through mission – 1 of our deaf members has done just that. Participating with Sheridan mission trips has helped gain a deeper understanding of faith through the eyes of different cultures. Sheridan offers local, national, and international mission trips. Many who speak ASL as a primary language are used to communicating in a different language, and often find it easier to communicate in foreign countries than everyone else. If you are part of the deaf community we would love to have you join us on a trip.
For people wanting to learn ASL (American Sign Language), sign classes are offered periodically. Check the website for dates. If you are interested in sign classes, please email t.knoell@sheridanlutheran.org.
