HEALTH AND WELLNESS MINISTRY

Keeping it healthy
"Don't you know your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? So use your bodies for God's glory." (1 Cor 6:19-20.)

Sheridan Lutheran programs support health and wellness for young and old. Health is living a Christian life to our greatest potential; experiencing wholeness through prayer, music, worship, and outreach activities that promote healthy minds, bodies, and spirits. It is possible to experience wholeness even though we may be dealing with physical health issues. Spiritual and emotional well being necessitate that physical ailments are not treated in isolation from the rest of a Christian life. We can remain centered in the assurance that God is always with us to comfort and give us peace through his grace.

FACTS About Obesity:

  1. 3 in 5 Nebraska adults are overweight or obese
  2. Overweight or obese individuals risk high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke among other health impediments
  3. NE ranks 45th worst for "5-A-Day" fruit and/or vegetable consumption

Get a Step up on Fitness
Fitness programs encourage an additional 2,000 steps a day (about a mile). Revving up your fitness and energy level is literally as simple as putting one foot in front of the other. Walking lifts your spirits, reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes and osteoporosis, and helps manage weight, cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes. A walking program—especially one where you work with another person or a group—can help you reach your fitness goals.

This life is not righteous, but growth in righteousness;
not health, but healing;
not being, but becoming;
not rest, but exercise.
