Worship Arts
The Worship Arts area serves through music, drama, visual media and sound. If you are gifted in one of these areas, we invite you to become a part of a vibrant and growing ministry.
Praise Teams
The Praise Team consists of many vocalists and instrumentalists that make up the team of musicians that lead worship each week. Our praise singers and band members are schedule throughout the month. Each individual plays or sings in worship about twice a month. The Praise team rehearses every Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the worship center. This is an auditioned group. If you are interested in being on the Praise Team, please contact Molly Schmit at m.schmit@sheridanlutheran.org
Orchestra
The Sheridan orchestra is made up of gifted individuals who have experience and training in their specific instrument. This full orchestra is comprised of: violin, cello, trumpets, trombone, tuba, flute, saxophone, etc. The orchestra plays with the Praise band in worship each month. They rehearse once a month on Tuesday evenings. If you are interested in playing with the orchestra please contact Molly Schmit at m.schmit@sheridanlutheran.org
Celebration Choir
Directed by Molly Schmit, the Celebration Choir is for all adults, high school age and up. They rehearse Wednesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Music Room. The Celebration Choir sings in worship several times throughout the year. They sing a wide variety of styles and participate in special events and special services. If you are interested in singing in the choir, please contact Molly Schmit at m.schmit@sheridanlutheran.org
Adult Hand Bell Choir
Sheridan’s hand bell choir performs several times a year for seasonal and special events. This team of adults rehearses about five times prior to playing in worship and is under the direction of Gretchen Terpsma. If you are interested or know someone who is please contact Gretchen at gterpsm@inebraska.com.
Drama
Drama is used periodically during the Sunday services to enhance and reinforce the message of the sermon. A dinner theatre is an annual highlight with proceeds raised for specific needs in the community and special ministries of the church. Sheridan has preformed several musicals over the years including Godspell, Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Music Man and Children of Eden and Suessical.
Deaf Ministry
Signing for the hearing impaired is a regular part of the worship services. Many who are hearing alongside hearing impaired participate in the Sign Choir that performs special music regularly. Contact Trisha Knoell at t.knoell@sheridanlutheran.org.
Visual Arts
We use visual screens for worship enhancement and to aid the entire worship experience. If you have a gift and desire to beautify and enhance the formatted screens from week to week, we welcome your participation. For more information contact Bryan Tepe at b.tepe@sheridanlutheran.org
Sound and Audio
Sound technicians are an integral part of the worship service. The technicians work to make the entire service run smoothly from microphones and CD players to monitors and input levels. If you have an interest in this area or for more information contact Bryan Tepe at b.tepe@sheridanlutheran.org
Television Ministry
Sheridan’s worship services are broadcasted on Lincoln’s local cable network weekly. With one fixed and two manned cameras, the services are recorded and edited to 30 minutes for three airings each week. It is important to have skilled individuals assist in this ministry in order to maintain a high level of broadcast excellence. If you are interested in producing, operating a camera or editing our weekly broadcasts, please contact Bryan Tepe at b.tepe@sheridanlutheran.org
