Annual Meeting Information
September 15, 2011
Below are the listed proposed amendments to the Sheridan Constitution related to the Sheridan Lutheran Church Foundation. The Foundation determined that it would be in the best interests of the Foundation and the Church to increase the number of Trustees of the Foundation from eight to up to fourteen. This will provide for greater flexibility and greater numbers of individuals to perform the tasks and functions of the Foundation. In order to increase the number of Trustees, an Amendment to the Constitution is necessary. Because the process for amending the Constitution is cumbersome, the Foundation decided to incorporate additional "housekeeping" amendments in its proposal.
The Foundation officially voted on these measures internally. In accordance with the Constitution, they then filed the proposed amendments with the Congregation Council on July 19, 2011, at least 60 days in advance of the Church's annual meeting, which is set for October 23, 2011. On August 9, 2011 the Congregation Council considered and voted to recommend the proposed amendments. The Congregation Council is providing this letter to meet its obligation of notifying the congregation 30 days in advance of the meeting. The attached amendments and resolution will be presented for your vote at Sheridan's annual congregational meeting.
Thank you for taking time to consider these documents prior to the meeting. Reminder that only Sheridan members may vote at the annual meeting.
Corey L. Stull, Church Council President
