Columbarium & Outdoor Worship Center
The Columbarium consists of a granite-faced wall that will start at ground level running out from the Family Life Center and Patio. The wall makes a long curve and ends up at ground level to the northwest. The highest point of the wall is approximately six feet tall. The Columbarium has approximately 450 niches which serves as a memorial and final resting place for the cremated remains of the purchasers. Each niche will hold two urns. The Columbarium wall forms the outline for an Outdoor Worship Center. This outdoor area is in the form of a grassy hillside amphitheater with a stage in front. This area is available to use for outdoor worship services, music concerts, classes, weddings, memorial services, etc. The total cost of the project is approximately $290,000. The cost of the project is being funded by approximately $55,000 generated from prior sales of columbarium niches, direct contributions of $55,000, and a bank loan of $180,000 by a group of Sheridan members who have formed a Limited Liability Company. This LLC group has purchased fifty niches. These niches will be resold and the revenue generated will repay their bank loan and interest. We are extremely thankful to this group for stepping forward and accepting this liability so that the project can move forward without direct cost to the congregation. We are selling niches to raise funds so that this group’s loan can be repaid in a timely manner. Additional opportunities for gifts for landscaping and other items related to this project will also become available in the coming months. Cheever Construction Company and Sheridan member Wes Oestrich completed the construction for us at a very attractive rate. Our sincere thanks goes out to all who have worked to bring this project to fruition. |
